Design Story: A Japanese Scrolling Vine, Cut Through Silver
This two-piece set pairs two silhouettes around one idea. The stud centres a round faceted amazonite in a smooth silver bezel, with a small fringe of teardrop-shaped silver drops set beneath the stone like a tiny sunburst. The second piece is a petal-shaped fan drop built on karakusa, the Japanese scrolling vine motif, where the pattern is not engraved on the surface but cut straight through the metal.
Worn together, the stud sits on the earlobe and the fan drop hangs below it, so the openwork moves as you turn your head. Worn apart, the stud is a clean everyday accent and the fan drop is a quiet, architectural piece for the ear. One set, two different moods.
The overall line stays close to the ear, which keeps the set easy to wear with a plain shirt as well as with dressed-up pieces.
