Case Study: Moonstone Crescent Pendant Necklace in Rose Gold Plated 925 Sterling Silver

This is a production case study for Moonstone Crescent Necklace – 925 Silver – a piece MIRAMETAL builds in its own Guangzhou workshop. It documents how the piece is actually made, what a buyer controls before production starts, and how the order moves from a reference to a packed carton.

What this piece has to do

A crescent pendant is mostly surface – a thin, curved, open shape with a stone sitting in the middle of the curve. A curved casting can distort, and a distorted crescent cannot be plated evenly, which is exactly where the customer sees it.

How MIRAMETAL produces it

Every step below runs in-house – CAD design, mold-making, casting, stone setting, polishing, plating and quality control. Nothing is subcontracted, which is what keeps an approved sample and a bulk run on the same route.

Mold and cast

The crescent is cast in 925 sterling silver from an in-house mold, then trued so the curve holds its shape through plating.

Stone setting

The moonstone is set into the centre of the crescent and checked for seat depth – on a curved face the stone has to sit level in two axes.

Plating

The whole pendant is rose gold plated after setting, as one piece, so the tone is consistent across the crescent, the bail and the recessed edges.

Inspection

Surface, plating coverage, stone security and the 925 hallmark are checked before the pendant is packed.

Quality and compliance

ISO 9001 certified workshop, EU REACH and US CPSIA compliant. Every piece is inspected before it is packed: stone security where stones are involved, plating coverage, surface finish and the 925 hallmark. Inspection photos can be provided before dispatch, and the QC record for a batch is kept so a repeat order can be checked against the original approval.

Order terms

MIRAMETAL has been making jewelry in Guangzhou Since 1990 – 30+ years of production – and works with jewelry brands in international markets. Orders start from 1 piece, sampling runs 3-7 days after design approval, and production covers CAD design, mold-making, casting, stone setting, polishing, plating and quality control.

Frequently asked questions

Will a thin crescent pendant warp?

Crescents are trued after casting so the curve holds through plating. A distorted curve shows up as uneven plating, which is why the step is not skipped.

Can I get this pendant in a different plating?

Plating is specified before production starts. This piece is listed in rose gold, and other finishes are quoted on the same in-house line.

Is the chain included?

The catalogue price covers the pendant. Chain selection, length and chain weight are specified separately as part of the order, and chain styles are catalogued separately in 9 options.

How long does sampling take?

3-7 days after design approval, on the same line that runs production.
